carenage police station
Location: Carenage Trinidad
Project Date: August 2019
Status: Completed Jan 2021
Procument Method: Modified Design Build
Contractor: NH International (Caribbean) Ltd.
Despite being simple buildings on the exterior, police stations internally pose great design challenges as they are comprised on a series of complex functions, spaces and aesthetic qualities that are found in very few building typologies. This project encompassed a rigorous series of design exercises to bring it to an affordable budget from its original design, while not compromising on the spatial qualities, allocations and linkages. The end result being a fresh, modern building that stands out and asserts itself as the keeper of the law in its context and is welcoming to all without prejudice, immense dominance and full of luster.
diego martin public library
Location: Trinidad
Project Date: January 2021
Status: Design - Build RFP
A library is a highly revered institution, which prides itself on being able to achieve its primary mission - to educate. Libraries in the past two decades have turned into more than just buildings to house books. With the advent of the technology age, physical books are seen as objects of yesteryear - like cassette tapes. However, there is nothing that can compete with the tactile emotions and feelings experienced with the flipping of a page in a well written book. Like this well written book, the layering of the spaces in the proposal for the DMPL possesses a finite beginning - middle and a conclusion, and will leaving you wanting more.
olera heights community centre
Location: San Fernando - Trinidad
Project Date :October 2020
Status: RFP Design Build Submission - Not yet Awarded
A community centre represents the immediate demographic it serves. It should be a space where the end-users - the community members, benefit from its very existence. It should reflect the spirit of the community and not be a cliche amalgamation of just national culture, colours and assumed wants of a community.
The Olera Heights Community Centre is not unique in its role and function, but it possesses a unique situation as it is sited within an existing housing development and not on an independent site. The scale of the Olera Heights housing development allows the community centre to adequately service it, while also serving the wider community.
